We can't Help you, if We can't Find you.
Living
in West County is great. We love the country, trees, and rural
environment. However, it makes finding homes much more difficult than a
typical suburb. There are dozens of dirt roads, sometimes up to a ½ mile
long, with multiple properties sharing access through it.
No one ever plans on needing the fire department, ambulance or police. Often times, it isn't you but a loved one visiting you. When you call 9-1-1, you want us there immediately. We can't Help you, if We can't Find you. Help us by posting visible street numbers for your house. It is best to use at least four-inch, reflective numbers on a solid background. Is your house accessible from both directions on your street? Then make sure to put street numbers on both sides. Place the sign in a highly visible area and if you live on a long access road, consider multiple signs. If you are planning on selling or remodeling your home, don't be surprised when they require you to do this- it's the law now.
| Sign materials are available from most home centers, including Ace Hardware in Sebastopol. Some of the fire departments, including Graton, offer to make the signs. The Graton Firefighters Association will put four-inch reflective numbers on one or both sides of a green metal sign for $15. This money is then used to sponsor our community events, such as the haunted house and children's toy drive. Call us at 823-7939 for more information or stop by the firehouse and pick up an order form- just to the right of the front door. You don't even have to pay until it's ready. If you already have a post, we'll attach the sign to it for free. |
